Okay so my nude lipstick obsession is out of control, granted. However when I saw this lipstick from Makeup Revolution in Superdrug I knew it had to come home with me. I’m not gunna lie here, I have got alot of nude lippies, But in my defence they all look different…to me. One of my all time faves (and probably everyone else’s) is MAC’s Velvet teddy. It shot to fame a few years back when it was said to be Kylie Jenners Favourite lipstick. Since then I’ve gone through countless tubes of it. Now it’s not overly expensive in comparison to other high-end brands, But for £15 it’s not overly cheap either. So you can imagine my joy when I found this lipstick.
It goes my the name of Makeup Revolution Iconic Matte Revolution Lipstick in the shade Chauffer. As you can guess from the name, It’s a matte finish, My personal fave in the lipstick world. It’s super creamy and isn’t drying on the lips just like MAC’S Velvet Teddy and the shade it pretty much bang on. I would say it’s the teeny-tiniest bit lighter but to me it still looks the same. One thing I noticed however is that it’s not as pigmented as Mac’s lipstick, It takes a few coats to get the pay off wanted but I guess that’s to be expected considering it’s only £3. Yep, you read that right…£3! I can safely say I’m going to be stocking up on these for everyday wear because I can see myself going through them quickly.
Another thing, I actually prefer the packaging on this lipstick to MAC’s packaging. Yes the MAC one feels slightly heavier and better quality but when It comes to looks, Makeup Revolution takes the win. I love the rose gold details, It just looks high-end. So well done Makeup Revolution, Another cracking product to add to my collection!
The one summer collection release I have been looking forward too the most is the Jouer Mermaid collection. Full of blues, greens, silvers and pinks. What could be any better? I have seen it plastered all over instagram with swatches and makeup looks so of course I couldnt wait to get my hands on something from the collection. I was browsing Cult Beautys website as you do, And noticed it had been released. I didn’t even know, But what I did know was that I was definitely buying something. I was actually really good and only ended up getting one product. *pats myself on the back*. I chose the metallic Matte Liquid lip creme In Daiquiri. The metallic lip is the lip look of 2016 and I had try one out for myself. Now most of the colours in the collection are quite bright and ‘out there colours’, So this seemed like a good option for me. When it first arrived I was a little surprised as the size as it was quite small. I’m not sure why but I was expecting a normal lip gloss sized tube but I’d say its a little big bigger than a MAC Lipstick. Quite a good size for throwing in your bag! As with all of Jouers products, they are designed to fit together, so there is a little grove in each one so you can connect them together to create your own little on the go palette. I just thought that was a nice little touch. Anyway more about the lipstick…It’s a beautiful bright coral with little flecks of gold in there. It’s super metallic and looks even better on the lips then it does in the tube. It add’s something a little different to a your bog standard coral lip colour. One thing that I absolutely love about this lip colour is that it smells like cake. who doesn’t like the smell of cake? Hmm I want some cake now.
The lasting power of this lip creme is insane! I could eat a full meal (or slice of cake) and it would be good to go after and still look flawless. When I first swatched this I couldn’t get it off my hand without abit of scrubbing so not only does it look good, It lasts amazingly too. I have a feeling I’m going to be wearing this all summer long. I picked it up from cult beauty for £14, not too cheap but then again not too expensive compared to most! It is limited edition so if you want your hands on it, You’ll have to be quick.
You’ve gotta love a good lippie. Especially when they are inexpensive. Thats why I love drugstore lipsticks. They’re purse friendly but you don’t have to compromise on quality. It’s a win win. I have picked out 4 of my faves to share with you today. Warning: 3 out of 4 are nudey browns. 4 out of 4 are mattes, Opps!
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolour in Seduction £6.99- Ah I love this lipstick. It is by far the comfiest matte liquid lipstick I have ever tried. You cannot feel this on your lips. I have the shade Seduction which is a really lovely pinky/browny nude and It looks so natural on the lips. You don’t get that horrible tight feeling on your lips when you’re wearing it like most matte lipsticks. It’s also super long wearing too so this is the lipstick I reach for on a daily basis when I have work.
Bourjois rouge Edition Velvet lipstick In 03 Hot Pepper £8.99 – This is hands down my favourite red lipstick. It is my perfect red. It’s an orangey red which I personally think suits me more than a blue toned red. The formula of this lipstick is incredible, It feels so velvety on the lips, the lasting power is AMAZING and It doesn’t feel drying at all. It dry’s matte within seconds and once it dries, ain’t nothing getting it off…
Maybeline colour Sensational Matte Lipstick in Nude Embrace £6.99- This lipstick is so creamy and moisturising, Which is hard to find in a matte lipstick. I tend to reach for this if I want a ‘my lips but better’ Look. It’s such a pretty nude, Slightly more brown than pink but who doesn’t love a brown lipstick nowadays?
KIKO Velvet Mat Satin Lipstick in 601 £6.90- Yes I know what you’re thinking, another matte lipstick? really? Yes. I just love me a matte lipstick! Especially this one. I picked this up a while ago, But it is still one of my favourites! I’ll admit, It is quite similar to Maybelines Colour Sensational Matte lipstick, But I still love it. Its creamy, wearable and very pigmented. You don’t have to keep layering it on, One swipe and you’re done. One thing that is different about this lipstick, Is it contains ingredients that help plump your lips up so if your after the kylie jenner look, This is a brilliant, Inexpensive option.
I’ve got a new favourite lippie. It’s the Revlon Ultra HD Matte lipstick. I’m abit of a sucker for a matte lip. It’s got to the point where I have way too many and I’m stuggling to find places to put them. I can’t help It, I just think they suit me better than any other lippies. So as you can probably tell I was eager to get my hands on this new realise. I had heard good things about them so I had pretty high hopes for them. And they haven’t dissapointed!
I picked up the shade Suduction which is a lovely pinky/brown nude. I did only pick up one as I wanted to try them out first to make sure it was worth buying other colours, But after trying this one, I am definitely going back for more.
Unlike most matte liquid lipsticks, It is so hydrating and creamy, So your lips don’t shrivel from thirst after 2 seconds. It wears really well, I wear this on a daily basis and it lasts all day without going all patchy even after 20 thousand cups of tea, No one likes patchy lips. It’s a doe foot applicator so It’s really easy to apply. When you do first apply it, It does take a while to dry down to a matte finish, Its not instant. But if i’m in a rush I just use my finger to smudge and pat it down so it goes matte quicker. I’ve been pairing this with my MAC soar lipliner and it is my perfect lip combo at the moment! I’m definitely going to pick up a few more colours as I think these are the best matte liquid lipsticks I’ve ever tried, And take it from me, I’ve tried ALOT. I picked it up from boots for £8.99, I think there is a 3 for 2 sale on revlon too so I’m off down to the shops soon!
Ps. I Finally have instagram! And I’m not gunna lie, I’m feeling pretty lonely over there so come on over and follow me for more beauty and lifestyle posts! Its @melia_may
