They always say mother nature is the cure for everything. Well I recently went to Lanzarote, Which is known for having some pretty big Aloe Vera Plantations and picked up somethings to try for myself as I’ve heard alot of great things about Aloe Vera based products. The first thing I got was the Aloe Vera Revitalising Cream which was incredibly cheap, You can get 3 tubs of this stuff for around 5.99 euros. Absolute Bargain! When I tried it in the shop it felt super moisterising but also lightweight so it didn’t feel like a rich cream on my oily skin. As it was okay for my face, I think i will get more use of it on the rest of my body. I think it will be a perfect summer moisturiser because it sinks in extremely quick. The other two things I didn’t actually buy myself, My mum picked them up for me to try as I had sunburn on my nose and was walking round like Rudolf. The brand is Natural Tone and 100% Natural, So you know exactly what you’re putting on your skin. After A few days my nose became incredibly red and flakey from sunburn, Even after using a spf 30 face moisturiser! The idea is to use these to products in conjunction with each other. I used the Recovery Gel With Organic Aloe and Tea Tree Oil first which relieves sunburn pain. it felt super cooling and I was expecting it to sting but it really didnt. A little went a long way with this, I only needed a little and it covered my whole nose and I still had some let over. I also applied this to any spots I had and It definitely calmed those down aswell. Once I had applied that I applied The Everyday Lotion Skin condition and Hydrator for abit of moisture. This stuff has seriously sorted my nose out. I had such dry, Flakey skin on my nose, it actually hurt to touch. But after applying this on my nose every morning and night it feels so much better and It’s actually getting back to somewhat normal. It’s also helping with my redness which Is something I’ve never been able to get rid of. I am now a lover of Aloe Vera.Thank you mother nature!

When It comes to face masks, I stick to your typical, bog standard in a pot masks. The ones you scoop out, slap on your face and end up getting it on everything in the house because you still have little bits on your hands. However on the weekend I had a little look in the beauty part of TKMAXX and saw that they had some TONY MOLY sheet face masks. I’ve seen a few people rave about them and I’ve also seen them on cult beauty before for around £6. They were in TKMAXX for £1.99 so I though it would be rude to not pick them up and give them ago. I also picked up the Red Wine Pore Care Sheet Mask for my 1000 giveaway that I’m doing. (Still open by the way so check it out).
Bit of background, TONY MOLY is a south korean beauty brand that was established in 2006, not only do they something for every skin type but they also have the most adorable packaging you will ever set your eyes on. The Korean beauty scene is becoming very popular here in the UK and I had to see what everyone was raving about.
The one I picked up for myself was targeted at blemish prone skin. You get one sheet in the packet so It’s just a one use product. Getting it out of the packet was the real battle. I basically had to wrestle it out. It felt super slimy and had alot of product on it so it was super hand to detangle, but I eventually got there. It was a little awkward to place onto my face and make sure it was in the right place but that was to be expected considering I had never used a sheet mask before. I placed it onto my face as best as I could, it took a little rearranging as at first as it was basically covering my eyes. Not gunna lie, I looked a little crazy with this mask on. The mask paired with some thick framed black glasses really isn’t a good look. You have to leave it on for around 20-30 minutes so longer than a typical mask. I wouldn’t say it’s very comfortable because It’s so slimy. It feels like its sliding off your face so you have to keep readjusting. Some parts don’t really stick to your face very well either, I found the chin area wasn’t covered at all so I had to keep pressing it down. It did feel super hydrating and refreshing though when It was on, It was kinda cooling. The best bit was when I took it off and washed off the excess product. My skin felt AMAZING after. It had never felt so soft before after using a mask. I even made Danny feel my face to show him how soft it really was. He did look at me bit funny but I just couldn’t believe it. My skin just looked more healthy within seconds of removing the mask. I’ve never tried a mask that had instant results like this one. Unfortunately this was the last one on the shelf in TKMAXX so I couldn’t go back and get more. I would definitely buy it again however I’m not sure i would want to pay £6 because that seems quite expensive for something you can only use once. I actually found it on eBay for £2.20 here so I am going to ordering a few of them! I definitely want to try some more products from TONY MOLY now.
PS. theres only 5 more days left of my giveaway so go check it out and get entering!
If you’ve read my previous posts on mascara’s, You’ll know I only have one In my life. It’s my ride or die, It’s my perfect mascara! It’s the one and only Benefit Roller Lash. I’m sure you’ve all heard it all before so I won’t bore you, But it just gets on with my lashes. It doesn’t clump them and make them stick out like daggers, It coats them just enough and It’s the only one that actually curls my lashes. So you’re probably thinking, Why are you reviewing another mascara when you’ve already found the perfect one? Well, I’m not rich and I’d like to cut down on things, If that means trying new mascara’s then so be it! So while I was in boots I thought I’d have a look at the L’Oreal mascaras because they have quite an extensive range. I had a feel of all the brushes, Even had danny trying a few because there was so many, Until I decided on the L’Oreal telescopic Magnetic Mascara. I’m more of a plastic brush lover, I just find the bristle brushes don’t work for me. The brush on this mascara is kinda like the roller lash one. You can feel it gripping your lashes and coating them all individually. It’s a fibre formula so It’s super Lengthing and volumising. I find when I apply this mascara you can really see each lash. It works wonders on my bottom lashes as well. It really emphasises them which Is good because I like a strong lower lash. Overall, I really got on with this mascara. I never thought I would say this but It’s definitley a great cheaper alternative for my beloved Benefit Roller Lash. Infact it’s much cheaper, I picked it up from Boots for £10.99. Cutting down Is definitley going well! YAY. *High fives myself*.
When It comes to powder I normally like it pressed, Not loose. I have never really used a loose powder so this one from MAC was a complete step into the unknown. It’s MAC’s Studio Fix Perfecting Powder which I believe is fairly new. The main reason I picked it up was because I had a MAC Voucher off a colleague at work for my birthday and I decided I wanted to try something new. So this is what I picked. It was described on the MAC website as a ‘pro-quality, refined loose powder to set makeup with a matte finish. Infused with nourishing ingredients, it wears comfortably for hours without feeling drying. With sheer coverage, M∙A∙C Studio Fix Perfecting Powder is a universal makeup must for beginners and buffs alike’. Now I’m not really sure how this is meant to be applied so I will let you know how I wear it and how I got on with it. I apply this with a big powder brush all over my face after I have applied my foundation and concealer. I basically use it as a setting powder around my T-ZONE. It goes on like a dream, It almost feels silky. It doesn’t make you look overly powdering which is great because no one likes looking like a powdered mess do they. I wouldn’t say It completely mattifies which Ideally I would like but It’s nice for those days where you just want bit more coverage without going overboard. Now I don’t think this would be a very good setting/ Baking loose powder because I don’t think it would sit on top of the skin very well, It’s so soft and creamy so you could probably use a kabuki brush and buff it in like a foundation which I think I might try. Now don’t get me wrong I do like this powder, However at £21 I don’t feel like it does anything special, I think it gives me the same effect as any cheap drugstore products would so I probably wouldn’t repurchase again. Overall though I did like it and I will definitely use it all up.
I am on the market for a new setting powder so if you have any suggestions, let me know in the comments. I want to giving baking ago, I’m feeling adventurous!
Now I realise this post might be two days late but I had to do it, There was a lot of things I loved in 2016 but these made the cut and are products I use on a daily basis, I believe they deserve a whole post dedicated to their awesomeness. So without further a do….
My foundation pick of the year is the NARS Sheer Glow. You’re probably thinking the same as I did when I purchased it for the first time back in september “you’re bit late to the bandwagon” yes yes I know. It was just one of those products I had never got round to trying. I am so glad I did because It is by far my favourite foundation. It’s full coverage which Is my go to anyway, but it’s not cakey. Despite the name sheer glow, It’s a demi matte finish, so great for my oily skin. It’s just something I never want to be without from now on.
A new brand I stumbled upon in 2016 was Formula 10.0.06. I came across it in Boots and felt like trying something new, it was half price so I though ‘screw it why not’. Turned out to be a good decision as the Seriously Shine Free Moisturizer is my all time favourite. If you have oily skin, Just give it ago. It’s life changing. I liked it so much I went back and picked up the Deep Down Detox Mask which was another great product. It’s a mud mask so perfect for oily/spot prone skin. Smells like yogurt too.
This is a recent favourite. I have tried alot of perfumes before but none compare to this one from Zadig&Voltaire. To be honest, I had never heard of this brand until I saw a tester in boots a few months back. I tried it, it smelt really good and that was that, I thought nothing of it until the next day when I happened to get a waft of it when I moved my wrist. Bearing in mind I had washed my hands a few times and had a shower and I could still smell it! So recently there was an offer in boots on the box set at half price, It was the last one on the shelf and I could see another women staring at me when I picked it up like she was ready to fight me for it. I swiftly moved towards the till and now I am so glad I did get it. It’s my favourite perfume, EVER!
This palette has changed my eyeshadow life forever. I always used to be a neutral type of gal, Show me a colour and I would run a mile. But the ABH Modern renaissance palette changed everything. I now wear orange tones and pink tones on a daily basis. I won’t even look at a medium toned brown. No thank you. The pigmentation of the eyeshadows are INSANE. The overall quality of the palette is definitely worth the money. I’m getting a little panicky to be honest, I’ve hit pan on majority of my favourite shades and this palette is quite hard to get hold of. AGH!
Lastly, It’s The Kat Von D Shade And Light Contour palette. As you all probably know, Kat Von D was released in the UK in 2016. Which sent the beauty industry into meltdown. This was the first product I picked up from debenahams and I’ve used it every day since. It just has all of the right colours you need to contour. The Banana coloured powder is one of my favourites.
So that’s another year down in the beauty world, I wonder whats in store in 2017?!
