If you saw my last post, Then you’ll know recently I lost all of my content from the past couple of months (blog post here If you wanna know why). I’ve tried to get it back but It won’t let me ’cause it sucks. So I’ve decided to put together a post on all my favourites over the past couple of months to keep you up to date on what I’ve been loving. To be completely honest this isn’t everything because if it was you would be reading this post tomorrow morning and no one likes a rambler. So here’s a few things from the past couple of months worth a mention.
Of course, I had to have bit of Kat V D in here. If you don’t already know (if you don’t where have you bloody been) Kat Von D Launched her beauty line in Debenhams, Here in the UK. I’ve been staring at this palette in particular for quite some time on the Sephora website. I do love bit of contour and It lived up to what I had hoped it would be. the colours are perfect for my skin tone, I’ve already hit pan on a few!
Well Real Techniques knew exactly what they was doing with this one didn’t they? Putting marble on a beauty sponge. It’s obvious if you obsessed with marble you’ll love this. I’ve been using it for a few months now as the good ol’ beauty blender was getting bit grubby and old so I needed a new one. This one was perfect! It blending base in really well and you can get in all those nooks and crannies to blend everything in nicely.
The makeup trend of the year, Oval Brushes. I don’t know about you but I wasn’t keen on buying an artis brush set for £284, I can just about justify anything but not that. So when revolution launched these recently I snapped them up. They are such amazing quality and they blend so well. I use these for contouring and base because they are the perfect size for applying contour. Really Impressed with these.
Everyone loves a facemask. It’s so nice to just sit down and relax and nothing feels nicer than a good facemark when you’re trying to wind down after a stressful day. I’ve been alternating between all three and they have done wonders for my face. I don’t particularly like the smell but I can see past that, My skin seems to love them and what my skin says, Goes.
Another skin care favourite. I’ve always been a big fan of cleansing oils. I’ve tried quite a few and liked all of them but never really went back to them. But this one I will! It doesn’t break me out, It feels so silky and moisturising to apply and It removes all of my make up in one go. Oh and it smells like oranges. It’s just everything I’d ask for in a cleansing oil. Will definitely repurchase.
So thats nearly everything I’ve been loving for the past couple of months. like I said, They are more but It would take ages to write a blog post on all of them…. What have you been enjoying this month?
I’ve been feeling quite under the weather recently. (hence why i havnt posted in a week! I have flu at the moment I’m surrounded by a sea of tissues and I can’t really hear much either. It’s say to say I needed a pick me up. What’s better at cheering you up than a trip to boots? So that’s exactly what I did! I originally went to pick up the new Loreal Pure Clay Masks but ended up getting a little more…..
I didn’t really need another Matte lip product. I have waayyy to many, but most of them are nude colours. I picked up this colour called Orange Shot from the Maybeline stand and I thought it looked like the perfect summer colour. Not that we are having much of a summer at the moment but oh well. can’t wait to try this.
I also picked up this Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner to match the Matte Liquid Lipstick as i don’t have a red lipliner and I have tried a nude colour from this range before and it was super creamy and you could also just use it all over the lip and it lasts ages.
Recently I smashed my beloved Urban Decay beach bronzer which I was so gutted about, I decided I’d pick this one up because I didn’t have a back up. It’s the Bourjois Chocolate bronzer. I have tried this one before and really liked it so I thought I’d get it again, Plus this packaging is cuuuttee.
Next I went to the collection Stand and picked up my favourite eyeliner. I won’t waffle on too much about this as I literally go on about it all the time but its amazing! I don’t think I’d want to use any other liquid eyeliner. It’s super black, has good staying power and easy to use. OOO and cheap.
Now onto the most exciting new items for Loreal. The pure clay masks. I saw the advert on these during the week and I was looking for a new mask so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on them. I had intended picking up all three as they have a charcoal one too but my local boots had sold out! So I settled for these two. The purity one and the Glow one. I seriously cannot wait to try these, I might actually try them tonight and try and make myself look and feel more alive.
The last thing I picked up was from Superdrug. Again I went to boots to see if they had the boreal charcoal mask but they didn’t have any either but I did find this from the Revolution Stand. I have a cream contour kit but never a powder one with various different shades in. I think that I’d get the most use out the banana shade and all the two middle colours on the bottom row. But we shall see….
The trend of the year has to be the matte lip. Everyones loving’ it. Even though matte lips have always been a thing, It’s soon becoming one of 2016’s top trends. I believe Kylie Jenner has had a big impact on the trend although you can’t blame her,They do look gorgeous. So as my preferred lip option is usually a liquid lipstick i thought today I would talk about my top 4 picks. (just a head’s up, They are all the same colour, But hey who cares!)
Ahh, the balm. Creators of funky packaging and also great makeup. I love these! They apply so nicely, The smell kinda minty and they don’t budge! They are slightly more drying than other liquid lipsticks I’ve tried and you can definitely feel them which some people might not like but they make my lips look so smooth and super matte so I can deal with that. Not to mention the packaging, A* Again goes to The Balms Packaging. You can get it here for £13.50.
A classic! The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme. This liquid lipstick does exactly what is says on the tin. It’s soft, It’s matte and It’s creamy. Everything you look for in a Liquid lipstick. It’s dries matte pretty much instantly so great if you in a rush and can’t be arsed to wait for it to dry, Pretty much me everyday of the week. And now its easier to get your hands on it! It available in boots and luckily its in my local one! But if you’re not as lucky, You can get it here for £5.50.
Next up is the newly released Jouer Long Wear Liquid Lipstick Mermaid Edition. A super Creamy, comfortable and darn right gorgeous Liquid Lipstick. This Limited edition one is a matte metallic although you can get your standard mattes from Jouer aswell. This liquid lipstick is super long wearing, I could probably eat a full roast dinner and it would still be clinging on to my lips perfectly. It’s really comfortable to wear aswell so I could wear it all day and not get irritated by the feel of it. It comes in at £14 from here so not the cheapest of the bunch but definitely worth it!
Last but by no means least is the one that’s slightly different from the others, Revlons Ultra HD Matte Lip Colour. It’s a slightly different formal to the others. It applies like a lip gloss. It’s shiny and wet and it does take a while to dry, But I actually like it. It’s moisturising and creamy so you’re not left with super dry lips that have shrivelled into prunes by the end of the day. Not too expensive either from here for £8.99.
I’ve having abit of a hair crisis at the moment. We’ve fallen out and not on talking terms because it just won’t listen to me. I want it to do one thing, It wants to do another. Whilst browsing the isles of Tesco the other day for some tea, I noticed this newish range from Tresemme, It’s the Perfectly Undone Range. When It comes to hair, I don’t like it all sleek and shiny. I usually opt for a ‘bed head’ look. Sometimes on purpose, Sometimes…Not. So I picked this up along with a curry for tea, of course! this product has really helped me and my hair see eye to eye. I’ve tried my salt sprays and various products that claim to give you ‘effortlessly beautiful beach waves’ But it never really works. One of them being the very expensive bumble and bumble Salt spray which was Meh, okay, But not amazing. Don’t get me wrong I used it all up, It was £24, Of course I was going to, But I didn’t repurchase. This is a fraction of the price and I think its amazing! I scrunched the mousse like consistency into my damp hair and left to dry and It left my hair looking, well, Perfectly Undone. Least it’s done what it says unlike most products! What I like most is it gives it so much texture! My hair normally gives up on life after washing and becomes floppy and lifeless so you can’t do anything with it, It refuses. But this seems to add texture and a little hold also. However, I do think if you over did it, You could possibly end up with crispy hair, So use it sparingly. Less is more, After all. I did this on saturday and It’s still going pretty well and still has so much texture. I think I need to go and pick up the rest of the range aswell now! You can pick it up here for around £3.95 at sale price so if you want to check it out, Do it before they go up to £5.78!
I first started creating my MAC Quad back in 2015. I didn’t really want to start one of the huge eyeshadow palettes as to be quite frank, I didn’t have the money to spend on eyeshadows that cost £10 each. So I ended up opting for a quad as it was the cheapest option. The first two colours I picked up were Mulch and Sable. I did a lot of research, Watched countless ‘My Mac palette’ videos on YouTube before I made the decision. I must admit They are pretty similar, but trust me they arent. I’ll start with Sable, Which is a described as a red brown with bronze. It’s also a Velvet finish so It’s got a little bit of sheen to it. I love this colour all over the lids and on the bottom lash line for a smokey look. Now onto Sable, Which is classed as a ‘Frost’. It’s descirbed as a Gold Plum With Bronze. I also love this all over the lid with a darker colour in the crease and outer corner. It’s stuch a lovely smokey shade but with a little hint of gold in there.
Next up are two purchases that we’re influenced by Jaclyn Hill. She did a YouTube tutorial on a sunset golden purple toned eye. I know, It sounds as amazing as it looks. So as soon as I saw that I assumed I would go to MAC, pick up the eyeshadows and become as good as Jaclyn when It comes to blending. Obviously that didnt happen as I dont think shes human. Shes too good. But I gave it a good go.. The two colours mentioned where Coppering and Deep Damson. Coppering is a ‘Velvet pearl’ and is described as a Orange Copper. The names gives it away really. It’s such a gorgeous colour. I use this on the middle of my eye, Blend into the outer corner and then add Deep damson. Deep damson is a ‘Matte’ Finsish and is described as a deep burgandy. I add this to the outer corner and blend away. I love how It add’s definition to the eye without being your typical dark brown.
Even though back last year I wasnt interested in getting a bigger MAC palette, I think its about time I extended my collection as they are really good eyeshadows. Any suggestions?
When I first saw these, I couldn’t wait to try them. I’m all about no fuss make up. I love the idea of an eyeshadow pencil you can draw all over your eyelid, blend and your ready for the day. So I was very excited when i picked these up. They have quite alot of shades to choose from but i opted for 619 RUST which is a deep burgundy berry shade and 611 YOGURT. My plan was to put Yogurt all over the eye (that kinda sounds funny) and put Rust in the outer corners and lower lash line and blend. I hadn’t read many reviews about these which is quite unusual for me, I usually read loads before buying anything so i went into this little unknowingly. I’m not one for bad reviews, But I really didn’t get on with these. They swatched amazingly in the shop so I was really surprised when I put these on the following day. They are quite a wet formula So when you blend them they kind of just move around the eye. It’s quite hard to explain but they left me eyes looking really patchy and shiny. If you have dry eyelids then this might work out okay for you with a primer, But I have oily eyelids so maybe that’s why they didn’t work well. I was so disappointed as I really liked the colours of these and I have never seen the burgundy colour in any other eyeshadow stick. Don’t worry I’m not going to leave these post on a downer, I’ve got a few other options of eyeshadow sticks that work really well.
Behold….Kiko’s Long Lasting Stick in 06 and Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon In Amber Haze. I couldn’t leave this blog post without giving a few other options. I picked up both of these aggggesss ago but they are my go to for when I’m in a rush. I love using them in the mornings before work as you glide them on and blend and your ready to get on with the day. AND they don’t budge. See, I’m not all doom and gloom today!
