The eyeshadow gods have spoken…ABH Modern Renaissance Palette

The eyeshadow gods have spoken…ABH Modern Renaissance Palette

My legs go weak just looking at the thing.. I mean isn’t it just the best thing you’ve ever seen. I recently did the risky thing of browsing the Cult Beauty website. Not for anything In particular, I Was just minding my own business and out of nowhere this palette caught my eye. I had heard a lot of good things about this palette from across the pond in america and had eagerly been awaiting its arrival. well of course before you knew it I had selected check out, put in my details and parted with my money in the matter of seconds. We will start with price, You should probably take a seat as it’s a hefty one. It’s £41. Which works out to around £2.92 per eyeshadow so If you look at it that way It’s actually quite reasonable, Right? I can justify anything though so no one can take me shopping. To me you’ll need everything you touch! So anyway the postman turned up and I pretty much ripped his arm off, All he has to say is ‘makeup?’ and I ekkkk in excitement. He knows. I ripped open the packaging to reveal this beauty. This is probably my favourite packaging on any make up product. It’s a gorgeous dusty pink in a felt sort of material. Feels like good quality anyway. I have always preferred a warm eye colour on myself, I just think It suits me better. So to sum it up, This palette is literally made for me. It’s got every colour in there you’d need to create a warm eye look. I of course couldn’t wait to get home from work so I swatched it at work. They are so incredibly buttery and pigmented I don’t think I’ve ever tried eyeshadows like it, And I’ve tried a lot. As soon as I got home, I decided to try it out properly and just to show you how gorgeous they are, This is the look I created. Excuse my stupid face.

So I’m sure you now want to see the swatches right….. here ya go!

Right to Left: Tempera, Golden Ochre, Vermeer, Buon Fresco, Antique Bronze, Love Letter, Cyprus Umber.
Right to Left: Raw Sienna, Burnt Orange, Primavera, Red Ochre, Venetian Red, Warm Taupe, Regular.

These we’re from just one swatch so you can see how pigmented they are. My favourite colours have to be Burnt orange for my transition colour, Regular for my crease, and Love letter and red ochre for the outer corned and lower lash. But that being said, I do belive i’d use every eyeshadow in this palette. Let me know if you would like to see some eyeshadow looks using this palette. I cannot explain how much I love this palette. This and Tartlette In Bloom are my top faves. I can see this taking the top place though.

My Favourite Eye Shadow Brushes

My Favourite Eye Shadow Brushes

My favourite part of applying make up is eyeshadow And you must have a good set of tools to do so. I have tried a few eyeshadow brushes over time and I have narrowed it down to my 5 favourites that I use all the time.

I’ll start with my zoeva brushes. I’m sure you’ve all heard of Zoeva before. The affordable, good quality brush brand that pretty much every beauty blogger in the world loves. I have had these too brushes for a while now, I think they were actually my first eyeshadow brushes…I used to just us the ones that came with the little makeup palettes from boots. I know I should be ashamed. I’ll start with the 227 Soft Definer brush. I use this brush for applying my transition colour in the crease. It is super soft, As like all of the Zoeva brush’s and It doesn’t apply too much product. It’s quite flat and has an oval head so fits in the crease perfectly. This is the brush I use for every single eye look. Cannot live with out it.

Another brush from zoeva and another one I cannot live without it, It’s the 225 eye blender. Now despite the name, I don’t use this brush for blending. i use it to apply darker shades into the outer corner of my eye and in the crease. It packs on the colour amazingly whilst also blending at the same time. So even for me, Who struggles to blend eyeshadow, Gets a fairly decent result. hands up if you’re crap at applying eyeshadow like me, WOO!

The next to brushes I received with palettes. I know, Shock, you can actually find good brushes that come with a palettes, Who’d of thought it! The first on I got once with the Urban decay Naked Smokey Palette and It’s just as awesome as the palette. It’s double ended so perfect for travelling. On the one end you’ve got a very small smudge brush which I used for applying eyeshadow along the bottom lash line, And on the other end you’ve got a blending brush. I’ll be honest, I don’t use that end as much as I have other blending brushes that I like more, although like I said, It’s perfect for traveling because you don’t have to take loads of different brushes with you.

Next up is another double ended brush from Tarte which I got with my In Bloom Palette. This brush Is so good! On one end you’ve got a smaller, Flatter crease brush and on the other you’ve got a blending brush. I love this blending brush. It blends so well and makes any eyeshadow look look flawless. Much love for this brush!

Last up is the Look Good Feel Better Angled Blending Brush. This brush is hands down my favourite blending brush. It adds the perfect finishing touch to any eye look. As it is angled it fits just above the crease and the brow bone perfectly and is so incredibly soft, I could just keep brushing this all over my eyelid all day. But that would be able little weird…Wouldn’t it?

Tartelette Palette In Bloom

Tartelette Palette In Bloom

Oh wow, I am literally sitting here with heart eyes at the moment, No joke. This palette is hands down the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. It’s very rare I find a palette where I know I will use every eyeshadow, but this eyeshadow palette has it all. It’s got your disco ball shimmers, It’s got your creamy mattes and It’s got your dark and smokey deep shades. When this turned up in the post at work I literally showed everyone, I wanted everyone to know how beautiful it was. I wanted to shout about it because lets be honest, Its’s stunning!

So I have been wanting this palette since it was launched but as Tarte is quite hard to get hold of in the UK I didn’t think it was possible, Until I was browsing QVC’s website the other day and noticed they sold it! As always they’ve got the good deal of getting a brush with it aswell but more on that beauty below. Any way, I have never ordered from QVC before but it actually came super quick so thumbs up QVC.

As soon as I opened it I knew I was going to love it. The case is beautiful. A lovely gold case with a deep purple and pink top with a petal pattern. Inside you have 12 eye shadows in total. 9 Mattes and 3 shimmers. The Mattes are so buttery, I’ve never tried an eyeshadow like it, and I’ve tried a lot. The shimmers are absolutely stunning, Of course I swatched the shimmers first, It’s just the rule. They are so pigmented I nearly fell of my chair. They don’t have huge chunks of glitter in which I personally love, They are almost wet looking. Agh dreamy!

MIDDLE ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT: Flower Child, Smarty Pants, Fire Cracker, ActivistIMG_20160518_181015

BOTTOM ROW, LEFT TO RIGHT: Funny Girl, Sweet Heart, Rebel, Leader

First Impressions of these eyeshadows are – They are incredible. They apply so easily with no fall out. You don’t need loads on the brush either as they are so pigmented. My favourite’s are Jetsetter, Funny girl, Firecracker and Leader. Who am I kidding, I have a soft spot for them all!

IMG_1128.jpgIMG_1129.jpgI also got this brush with the eyeshadow palette. QVC always seem to offer brushes along with the products which I think is super good value for money, And if this one is anything to go by, the are good quality too. Not your typical crappy brushes that normally come with eyeshadow palettes. These are the real deal. This one I particularly love as I can use the one end to apply the eyeshadow in the crease and the other to blend. It really fluffy and good quality so perfect for any eyeshadow look!

You can pick it up here for £32.40, It’s actually on sale at the moment aswell so bonus!
