A Recap On 2016 And My New Years Goals…

A Recap On 2016 And My New Years Goals…

So It’s out with the old and in with the new. 2016 is over and what a year its been. 2016 was a big year for me. I plucked up the courage to start a blog after many, many years of debating it. I remember not wanting to start one because I was too scared to tell anyone until one day my boyfriend encouraged me it was a good idea, So in January 2016 I started Melia May. It got off to a great start..I had so much support from my boyfriend (he was the only one that knew at the time) and not to forget the support from you guys. I didn’t think I’d even get 1 view let alone finish the year with 9,000 Views on my blog. However one thing I have learnt is it’s not all about views. It’s not all about how many people are following you on twitter or instagram, It’s whether you are truly enjoying it. Thats all that matters at the end of the day. However 2016 hasn’t been all good, It’s had its ups and downs, Don’t get me wrong the ups definitely out way the downs, But who goes through a whole year without something bad happening ? You are very lucky if you do. Another good thing this year has been Danny (My Boyfriend) starting up his own business (check out his instagram @rus_customs) We was a little apprehensive at first, who wouldn’t be when starting your own business?! But it’s actually been a really good year for him and it’s growing by the day. Oh and not to forget that we moved out together this year, Probably the one of the biggest things to happen in our lives and we did it! And to top the year off in spectacular style he asked me to marry him, of course I said yes! Who would have thought that when we was 15 years old that we would be sat here like an old couple in our own house and being engaged? crazy how life works. So yeah another year done and dusted. Now onto 2017!

I’m not one for all that ‘New year, New me’ Malachy, But I do have a few goals I’d like to work towards this year. It’s always nice to know you are working towards something. I only have two goals this year, Nothing special, nothing extravagant.

  1. Work on making my blog the best it could be. Create better, More regular content and  spend more time preparing for blog posts. I’m like to think I’m organised but I’m not.
  2. Just be flipping’ happy. Stop worrying what others thinks, Just get on with what makes you happy and don’t waste time on things, Life is way to short to be doing stuff you don’t want to be doing. I know I know, cheesy but true.

One thing I have got recently that is going to help me with my blog and also with my useless organisation skills is The 2017 Blogger Journal that was created by COCOCHIC. Go check out her blog and youtube channel if you haven’t already heard of her. This Journal literally has everything you possibly need to stay organised. It has inspirational quotes,  Monthly Statistics, Tips on blogging, A Monthly and yearly planner, basically just everything you need. I can’t wait to start using it.

So whatever you are working towards in 2017, just make sure you stay happy and remember what is important in life. The people you love and the people who support you though everything because I wouldn’t have been able to do what I did in 2016 if it wasn’t for the people around me. HAPPY. NEW. YEAR!!

Visiting Devils Bridge | Holiday: Part 2

Visiting Devils Bridge | Holiday: Part 2

So even though I am home eating a huge bar of Cadbury’s dairy milk and feeling sorry for myself, I thought it was about time I did Part 2 post of my holiday as I have a ridiculous amount of pictures I wanted to share on here. (Part 1 is here btw). So the last three days in wales went stupidly quick. On thursday we decided to visit Devils Bridge, I had searched for places to visit prior to the holiday as I wanted to see as much as I could so I knew it would be a good day out but I wasn’t expecting it to be quite as beautiful as it was. You get a little map before you enter, which takes you basically round in a big circle, Walking though beautiful woods, seeing amazing views from above the trees to standing right under the waterfall. They also had one of these…. I think i could definitely pull this outfit off, Right? Such a typical tourist arent I….

One thing I wasnt expecting was the steep steps. I’ve never see anything like it! I was hanging on to the railings for dear life whilst Danny bounced down the steps like they were nothing, also taking pictures of me in the process.

I have to say, The easy part was walking down all those steps as I was rather hard climbing back up, my legs hurt way too much the next day.

On friday, It was pretty much our last full day. We relaxed in the morning, Had a huge lie in, Then made the most of the swimming pool and jacuzzi before we left. As it was our last day, We decided to have one last walk on the beach. Theres something so peaceful about the beach where we were stopping. There was hardly any one around and you just kinda forgot about everything. Although one thing you had to watch out for was huge flipping’ rocks that a literally ankle twisters.

we decided that the best way to end the holiday was to have a cosy little movie night, So thats exactly what we did! nothing better than having a cosy movie night when the weathers crap outside and all you do is eat crisps and chocolate. A great end to a great holiday.

ooo PS. I have a new twitter dedicated to my blog and my daily life so check that out here. I think this means I’m ‘Down with the kids’?

Best Sunset I’ve Ever Seen | Holiday: Part one

Best Sunset I’ve Ever Seen | Holiday: Part one

I’m currently lying in bed with the sun shining though the windows with danny cooking a fry up, the smell of bacon is pretty strong right now..mmm

Ahh well lets say its been a typical english holiday… Rain, sun, cloud and so on. When we first arrived it was absolutley tipping it down so it was abit of a gloomy start to the holiday, but by the time we had unpacked our suitcases and got every thing sorted it was pretty late so we went to bed. Next day didnt start to well either, it was cloudy and drizzley so we decided it would be a good opputunity to go to check out the pool. We was in there for a while sat in the jecuzzi, relaxing also teaching danny how to doggy paddle, he got the hang of it, kinda. By the time we got out the sun decided it wanted to come out so we had a few ciders by the sea. Feeling a little giddy, we made our way down to the beach for a little stroll. Ah dear i’ve made us sound like 80 year olds. Anyway we ended up taking way too many photos but it was just so beautiful the pictures probably dont give it enough justice….

Excuse my face, I had no makeup on and had a few too many thatchers

Next day we set off to abersystwyth. It was meant to be 1 1/2 miles away, but to my little legs it felt like it was 1000 miles. Walking back was the worst.. More on that later though. The one upside to walking was the views… It was breathtaking, I have got pictures on my camera but we have to internet on my laptop to I can’t get them on my phone. So off we went into aberystwyth. We had a little look around and went in a few shops. We found an AMAZING sweet shop. They had so much stuff in there and so many american sweets. We even found a DUFF energy drink, we literally lost our s**t when we saw it, how cool does it look though….

We had some fish and chips in the same place we did 4 years ago when we first came here, best fish and chips ever. We had a little walk around aberyswyth castle and did a little more shopping before we walked back so we had a few bags to carry aswell, big mistake. The hill is incredibly big and it seems I must be incredibly unhealthy because I had to keep stopping because I was out of breath. That might be down to the fact we’ve had fry-ups every day but ahwell we’re on holiday! So once we finally made it up the hill and I had regained my breath we carried on back to we’re we were stopping, when I got back I laydown and didnt move untill the following day. Lazy, I know I know. So the following day we stayed by the caravan, went for a walk on the beach, skimmed some stones, poorley might I add. We just kinda relaxed. Then around 9pm is was still warm enough for shorts so we made our way down to the beach for a little walk. We ended up seeing possibly the best sunset we’ve ever seen….

After that we went back to the caravan, listened to some UB40, played some cards ( I won, of course) and chilled out. Which brings me to now, thursday morning and my fry ups ready, see ya!

Getting Lost In a Forest…

Getting Lost In a Forest…

As it was a weekend off Motocross, We decided to make the most of it and go to the local Wyre Forest Centre and explore a little. They have a few different trails you can follow but we didn’t really stick to any of them, we just winged it. The weather was sunny, Kinda. So it was a perfect day for a little stroll, Which turned into a 7mile Hike but more on that later….

We decided it would be a good opportunity to take the camera’s out with us and see if we could get some good shots. I’ll be honest it was just tree after tree after tree so there wasn’t too many exciting shots although we did get a few….

Don’t know what I was doing looking into a muddy puddle…Must of seen a bug or something…

As anybody who loves photography will know, It takes about 2 hours to walk 10 meters because your constantly trying to get pictures of everything possible. So try walking 7 miles! It took us ages!  Danny has recently brought some new lens’ for his iPhone. One of them is a macro lens and he’s obsessed with trying to get pictures of things up close… I’ll admit though, They do look good so it was worth him nearly falling into an ant’s nest to get them.

Now the Wyre Forest Trails go across 6’509 acres so you could say its a pretty big place, its got streams, wildlife and trees, Lots of trees. don’t get me wrong I love trees, but as there are so many there, It always looks the same. So as you can imagine we got pretty lost. We didn’t follow the correct trails that we’re set out or signs, we winged it. Below is my ‘i’m lost’ face.

Danny thought it would be rather funny if he kept referring to the film ‘Wrong turn’, If you haven’t seen it, Don’t. You won’t look a forests the same way again. And to top its all off, The heavens opened and the paths became muddy. Excellent..

The clouds soon passed and we had some sunshine again and we finally got back to civilisation. The sound of people though the tree’s and the sight of a normal foot path was a relief to me I’ve got to say. I did want to kiss the path but I think that would have been a tad too far… but as you can imagine we we’re both pleased to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

It was so nice to do something different for a change. Nothing better than getting a little fresh air (or in our case a lot) when you’ve been sat in an office all week! Although little advice, Always follow the correct directions.

BLOGGING: Staying Organised

BLOGGING: Staying Organised

Now i’m no expert on organisation or blogging, but since starting my blog i’ve learnt a few things about how important it is to stay organised. When I first started, in my head I was thinking ‘yeah I will just wing it and write posts on the day they need to go up’ although in reality I had no time after work to get back and write a post I actually wanted to post and was satisfied with. So I decided it was time to get my ass into gear and get organised…good words of wisdom, i know….

Buy a note pad

I’m not gunna lie, I used to love buying cool notepads with lovely patterns, keep them in my bag for a few weeks, and never use them! Buying a notepad has definitely helped me stay organised since having a blog. I use it to write down everything. When I say everything, I mean everything. Stupid things like potential outfit idea’s. It might sound pointless but it could possibly become a future post! It has a permantent place in my handbag just in case i have a random light bulb moment and need to jot it down. This comes in handy when you cannot for the life of you think of anything to blog about.

Stick to a schedule

Choose the days you want to post and stick to it. One thing i’m glad I did do at the start of my blog was set certain days that I was going to post. when I first started I knew no one would really care what days I posted as others probably wouldn’t even know I existed, But it was more for me that anyone else. You know exactly when you need to write the post for and you know whats days you can have off.

To-do lists Are Your Best Friend

If you have a post planned for a certain day, what do you need in order to post it up on time? I make a list of all the things I will need before I write a post so I can refer back to it instead of taking even more time to find out the info. One of the biggest mistakes I made when I started was not taking pictures until the minute I came to writing the post. Over the past few months i’ve been writing down all of the post I want to write and all of the pictures I will need. I’ll take a few hours on the weekend and take a few different pictures for different posts. The worst feeling ever is when you come to write a post and you’re camera’s dead so you cant take the pictures you want too. Been there, Done that, Got the badge.

Which leads me on to my next point…

Charge your tech

I hate that moment when you’re just got stuck into a post and you’re laptop/phone dies. Every time I need to write a post I charge my laptop before hand to make sure i’ve got enough battery to write it in time. Too many times i’ve be caught out by this…. Damn you modern day tech.

Valentines Day

Valentines Day

So this valentines day, Me and my boyfriend, Danny, decided we wasn’t going to buy each other fancy gifts and flowers. As it was out sixth Valentines together, and we will moving out this year, we decided it would be a better idea to use the money we would of for gifts and spend it on a nice day out. We ended up going to Statford Upon Avon. Luckily, the weather decided it would be fairly nice and sunny today. As it was sunny but still a bit chilly, I went with my big fury leopard print coat, which is my FAVOURITE coat, Ever. I have abit of a obsession with leopard print at the moment. I paired this with my Topshop white shirt and ASOS high waisted jeans. I love this shirt as its so simple and easy to just shove on and tuck into jeans. It was still sunny outside so i did need to wear sunglasses, I chose my H&M Round reflective sunglasses because i think they added something a little different to my outfit. (The main reason i picked them is because they look coooool.)

I had only ever been to Stratford Upon Avon once, but i was very small so i can’t really remember much apart from the fact it was Shakespears birthplace. It is such a lovely british town. There are so many lovely coffee shops and restaurants that are so unique. The shops are also brilliant, they have many shops that i don’t have locally, like space NK and The White Company.

I only picked up two things, which both were candles… I have no regrets.

The first candle I picked up was The White Company ‘Wild Fig’. There was so much choice in the shop it was hard to pick, although this one stood out to me as a more spring/summer Scent as its very fresh. The only problem is, I don’t want to burn it! It’s too pretty. I think I might save this one for when I move out.

The second candle I picked up was ‘Our Own Candle Company’ in Ginger Peach. I had never heard of these before, they wear in a little gift shop called Magpiebox and they all come in small jars which is sooo cute. But the main reason I liked these candles was because they actually smell exactly like there meant to…if that makes any sense. They smell so strong so you know as soon as you light them in your room, it will smell of it after 5 minutes.

After a little mosey around the shops, we realised every cafe was full to the brim by lunch time, So we ended up having lunch in a little coffee shop just on the high street which was lovely. Overall, I had such a lovely day for valentines day, and I have lots of pictures to remember it with.
