BLOGGING: Staying Organised

IMG_0719.JPG

Now i’m no expert on organisation or blogging, but since starting my blog i’ve learnt a few things about how important it is to stay organised. When I first started, in my head I was thinking ‘yeah I will just wing it and write posts on the day they need to go up’ although in reality I had no time after work to get back and write a post I actually wanted to post and was satisfied with. So I decided it was time to get my ass into gear and get organised…good words of wisdom, i know….

Buy a note pad

I’m not gunna lie, I used to love buying cool notepads with lovely patterns, keep them in my bag for a few weeks, and never use them! Buying a notepad has definitely helped me stay organised since having a blog. I use it to write down everything. When I say everything, I mean everything. Stupid things like potential outfit idea’s. It might sound pointless but it could possibly become a future post! It has a permantent place in my handbag just in case i have a random light bulb moment and need to jot it down. This comes in handy when you cannot for the life of you think of anything to blog about.

Stick to aΒ schedule

Choose the days you want to post and stick to it. One thing i’m glad I did do at the start of my blog was set certain days that I was going to post. when I first started I knew no one would really care what days I posted as others probably wouldn’t even know I existed, But it was more for me that anyone else. You knowΒ exactlyΒ when you need to write the post for and you know whats days you can have off.

To-do lists Are Your Best Friend

If you have a post planned for a certain day, what do you need in order to post it up on time? I make a list of all the things I will need before I write a post so I can refer back to it instead of taking even more time to find out the info. One of the biggest mistakes I made when I started was not taking pictures until the minute I came to writing the post. Over the past few months i’ve been writing down all of the post I want to write and all of the pictures I will need. I’ll take a few hours on the weekend and take a few different pictures for different posts. The worst feeling ever is when you come to write a post and you’re camera’s dead so you cant take the pictures you want too. Been there, Done that, Got the badge.

Which leads me on to my next point…

Charge your tech

I hate that moment when you’re just got stuck into a post and you’re laptop/phone dies. Every time I need to write a post I charge my laptop before hand to make sure i’ve got enough battery to write it in time. Too many times i’ve be caught out by this…. Damn you modern day tech.

  1. Been there too! The pictures are the hardest part for me because I’m limited to a two-three hour time span when I actually get light through my windows (just the way its set up…) So it’s always a mad rush when I do have light haha

    1. Exactly the same! When I come back from work, it’s too dark and I can never get any good pictures! I’ve decided to dedicate a few hours of the weekend to just get as many pictures as possible now, hurry up summer time!
